About Hanlon farm - approximate
The Hanlon farm is the family home on Witcham Road, near the Bowers property, with farmland extending toward the Kenduskeag. On the inbound rural approach, travellers pass the Bowers place before reaching the Hanlon home and then the river and Barrens. The ride to the former Ironworks is described as a little over four miles, reinforcing the farm’s position outside central Derry. The atlas shows a representative farmstead and riverward land rather than a complete agricultural plan.
Why this pin is marked C
Proposed. The book leaves a gap; the point is the atlas’s proposal.
This farm is level C because its road, neighbouring property, travel order and broad distance to the Ironworks are known, yet the fictional regional scale cannot be reconciled to one exact point. The marker preserves those relationships near the sheet edge. The selected frontage, distance from Bowers, connection to the river, field boundaries and buildings are schematic. Confidence concerns the rural sequence and general direction, not literal mileage or a surveyed farm parcel.
