About Bowers farm - approximate
The Bowers farm is a small rural holding near the Newport town line in 1958. One approach places it at the far end of Kansas Street, while another situates it along the Route 7 and Witcham Road route into Derry. The atlas joins those descriptions at the rural fringe, beyond the dense street plan. The farm functions as a threshold between town and countryside and as the first of several properties encountered before the Hanlon farm and the river lowland.
Why this pin is marked C
Proposed. The book leaves a gap; the point is the atlas’s proposal.
Level C acknowledges that the farm’s general edge-of-town setting is clear but the two route descriptions do not produce a unique local coordinate. Connecting Kansas Street with the Witcham approach is a cartographic solution, not an explicit junction in the source. The chosen point preserves the Newport boundary and inbound order of farms. Its distance from town, road frontage, side, acreage and building arrangement remain proposals rather than established geography.
