Place 15: Aladdin Theater

1958; 1985

On Main Street, on the same side as Nan's and across from Freese's. Its side exit opens into a fenced alley. It is not automatically equated with the earlier Bijou.

About Aladdin Theater

The Aladdin Theater is a Main Street cinema present in the 1958 town and still recognizable in 1985. It stands on the same side of Main as Nan’s Luncheonette, with a fenced escape alley beside the theater, while Freese’s Department Store faces this group from across the street. These relationships make the Aladdin part of a compact entertainment and shopping block. The atlas keeps it separate from the earlier Bijou, whose identity and site are not automatically the same.

Why this pin is marked A

Named in the novel. The street or the site is named in the text; the exact lot is the atlas’s.

The theater is marked A because Main Street, the opposite position of Freese’s, the adjacency of Nan’s, and the side exit into the alley form a consistent set of local constraints. They identify the correct commercial block and the order of its principal landmarks. The evidence does not provide a street number, measured frontage, exact side of Main in compass terms, or a building plan. The selected parcel and theater footprint reconstruct those missing details without merging the Aladdin with another historical cinema.
